Get Caught Up!

While Covid-19 put its fair share of things on hold in the last year and a half, potentially one of the most concerning things is the preventive healthcare of our children. Many well child exams were missed or avoided for fear of entering a doctor’s office, or simply because of the added strain and stress of the pandemic. As a result, immunizations for children were delayed, or missed.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control is showing that childhood vaccinations are down 14% as compared to the prior year. They are encouraging families to get caught up on their vaccines, and to harness the resources that are available to protect our loved ones.

As schools and playdates pick back up again, you have the power to protect your children! Well child exams are essential, as they help track growth and developmental milestones, allow you an opportunity to discuss any concerns about your child’s health, and help stay up to date on immunizations.

August is immunization awareness month, and it’s the perfect time to get caught up on those vaccines. Regular immunizations protect children from illnesses like measles, whooping cough, chicken pox, and other serious diseases. These diseases are highly contagious, and can be serious for young children and babies. While Texas Emergency Care is always here to help in an emergency, we would much rather see you at home and school with your healthy kiddos.
